Digital Initiative for Children with Disabilities

The coronavirus pandemic has severely affected many sectors of life all across the world. Children’s education is one of the sectors which has been affected the most. Since last year, schools have shut down, and students have to attend online classes from home. However, the schools for children with special needs have remained shut for over one and a half years now. These special children suffer from loneliness, boredom and just like any other child, they crave to study again. But accessing online education all by themselves becomes a challenge for these children and their parents, especially those who live in rural areas.

Trouble for Special Children in Accessing Online Education

One of the major issues for special children to gain access to education is that the internet connectivity in rural areas is relatively poor. On top of that, disabled children are not treated with adequate care or attention compared to children in urban areas. The parents remain busy with their work as they have to earn their living while the special children are left alone. The poor financial condition also means that they grow in an environment with familial problems, parental abuse and lack of education and awareness.

Solutions for the Challenges

In such challenging times caused due to the pandemic, this organization has come with an innovative idea to ensure that all children get access to digital education. The trust provided special tablets to the disabled children in rural and urban areas, which has inbuilt sensory activities and speech repairmen therapy sessions. The mothers of such children act as the primary instructors and teach other mothers how to help their children to operate the technology. This organization also aims at opening digital libraries at all those places where access to books is difficult.

Be it the pandemic or any other crisis, and children are the future of any country. It is the right for all children to gain equal access to education, regardless of their gender or abilities. The Government of India consistently makes an active effort to promote children’s education in all areas. Several NGOs working for child education have come up with unique ways to impart education during the lockdown.

To Sum Up

Anchal Charitable Trust remains a name that believes in child education, especially for poor and disabled children. The organization aims at providing schools for children with special needs that would ensure that all kinds of children get access to education. This trust has remained the most innovative among all other NGOs working for child education as it comes up with new ideas and ways of providing education at all times.
